1: Put the whole frame together very loosely before you tighten it down.
2: Put Loctite Red on all the screws this will help them from backing out and the bed frame squeaking during your extracurricular activities.
3: Don't jump on the bed it is not a Trampoline. If you can't help but jump on the bed buy your self a Trampoline to sleep on.
I hope this help some people out there.Get yourself a good night sleep
My biggest issue was the center support and leg. The leg is about 1/4" too short, but I can easily remedy that with a 1/4" plate under it. Perhaps they made it that way to allow the center of the bed to flex a little? Who knows. The hole for the single bolt was already torn right out of the box (see photo). There is no spacer to keep you from crushing the tubing when tightening up the screw. No washer or added material to widen the pressure from the screw head which is quite small to begin with. If I had used the screw in the hole I had, it likely would have just popped through where the tear was. I ended up just cutting some thicker rectangular tubing I had and drilling a hole in it for a washer. Someone had a picture of another zinus bed (1000 perhaps) where the center support just collapsed and the center leg bent sideways. Hopefully this cannot happen now with the piece I added.
I just hand tightened all the screws first with loctite on each one before going around and tightening them all twice. This was done as an attempt to prevent the squeaking so many people have complained of.
But over time I noticed the bed getting squeakier and wobblier. I tightened down on the bolts that hold it together and that seemed help a little bit. Why they worked themselves loose I don't know? But then, it started again recently, and that's when i noticed that where the horizontal runner meets the vertical post at the end of the bed, it's literally ripping itself apart (see attached photo).
I'd be more upset about this, but I bought it for 99 dollars and it's lasted me a year, so "meh". It is definitely not worth the 205 dollars they are asking for this thing now though. If you need a cheap bed frame go to Ikea!
Mine arrived perfect. No scratches, no mismatched holes, and I found the directions easy to follow especially with the tips from the other reviews. I set my pieces out and lined up my numbers before screwing anything in to ensure I wouldn't realize an earlier mistake at the end and have to dismantle the whole thing! I found that helped me visualize too. All in it took me about 25 mins (but 5 mins of that was unpacking and laying the pieces out on the floor with my five year old daughter's assistance!) and I only needed the provided tool. I was nervous about the wood slats from other reviews and while they don't seem as rock solid as the metal frame, they are slightly better than I expected. This was purchased for a full size mattress for guests and overall I am extremely happy with it and would purchase another in the future.
