It does exactly what I wanted to do at a fraction of the price of a dock. Although, it wont charge your Iproduct. I knew this going in so no worries there. I debated on the 1ft vs the 2ft, and I'm glad I went with the longer of the two. I think the 2ft is perfect length for my current setup. Although I'd recommend that you measure exactly how long of a cable you need before pressing the purchase button. This also worked perfectly on my iphone4. I don't know if it will work with the iphone4s ,but I'm assuming it more than likely would ?

I got a pair of these cables to connect my iPhone (4S) to a couple of older, high quality stereos with RCA style AUX input connectors.
Most of the cases used on iPhones have only a very small cutout for the top shoulder of the audio connector. And, most audio cables with RCA connectors (for use with older audio electronics) have a relatively fat connector on the iPhone end. The result is that the audio connector does not seat well and may not even connect reliably. I found that this cable connects perfectly between my older classic audio electronics and my iPhone 4S. This connector seats well into the iPhone even with a case on the iPhone.

This cable is a good inexpensive solution to connecting an iPhone, iPod, or iPad to an older piece of audio equipment. I am very pleased. The only downside is that you cannot charge the iPhone at the same time - But my phone is always parked in the dock overnight and that's not a problem.

I was simply looking for something that would give me audio from the dock connector instead of the headphone jack of my iPhone 4, in order to bypass the headphone amp circuitry and get a (hopefully) cleaner signal. Signal quality seems fine, with little to no background noise; probably as much sound quality as you're going to get with compressed files.

Quality on this product seems just fine and it does what it's supposed to.

Wish it was a little longer, but that's my fault for ordering the 2-footer.

This product works great. i wanted a cheap way to use my iphone 3g with my hk 3490 receiver and this fit the bill. I took a chance since there were not many review on this product but using the 30 pin connector sounds way better than using the mini aux input. This is also a great way to connect you ipod/iphone without having to but a expensive dock. Excellent build quality and product.

I know there are a lot of iPod / iPhone docks, etc. out there, but if you just want to quickly plug in your i-device to a receiver, audio mixer or even an old stereo, this is the ticket. Budget friendly, solid connection let's you use your modern technology with anything. I've used it with an old stereo I got at Goodwill for $10 that has an "aux" connection to use in the back yard and TA-DA! There you have it... all your ipod music and playlists running right through a cheap-o stereo for all to enjoy - and you didn't have to break the bank!

Does it CHARGE your iPod / iPhone? No... but that's why you have a charger, right?

I have a number of audio books on my i-devices and when at home I don't want to listen to them on headphones. I used to connect my iPod or iPhone to the entertainment center through a mini-jack to RCA connector that I would plug into the audio port of my phone. This worked well enough if I remembered to turn up the volume on my i-device and on the stereo too. But, invariably I would forget to turn it back down and either have my ear drums nearly blasted out by my headphones or by my stereo speakers when I switched back to the tv or blu-ray player. I got to pondering that there had to be a better way. My phone stays in a case all the time so a dock just wouldn't fit the bill. In my searching I stumbled across this cable on Amazon and thought for the price it was worth the gamble. So far, mind you this is one day's worth of experience now, it is.

The RCA plugs connected up to my stereo without problems and the dock connector plugs easily into my various devices just fine. The wonderful part is that when it's plugged in the dock connector the volume selector on my devices goes away and is apparently auto-set for the dock connector at the correct level. My stereo didn't need turning up, I kept it at the same level as I would for watching a movie. When I was typing on the unlock screen none of the keyboard clicks came through on the stereo. I'm not sure if this is going to be true with all sound events or if its just the unlock screen, but time will tell. Ultimately I'm just happy that I have an audio solution now that doesn't involve me messing up the volume levels on my i-devices or stereo.

Purchased the 2 foot version of this cable. It works out of the box for my iPad 1, iPad 3, and iPhone 4s. It should work for any Apple product. The cable is of similar quality to the typical Apple product accessories. It has the look and feel of a high quality cable. The 2 foot version worked fine for my situation..barely. I would recommend a minimum 3 foot length. I noticed there may be a 6 foot version for a few dollars more. If I had to purchase again, I would choose the longer version.
