Clear creates vibrant colors, but doesn't hold up.

I ordered every clear contact paper on Amazon with this shipment. This product was the clear winner out of the 5 different brands available. I am a librarian, and Con-Tact has always been my go to product for covering books. I recently tried Zip Tac since Con-Tact is harder to find these days. I really like it. It has a shiny, clear finish, so colors are more vivid than with the Con-Tact matte finish. Covering is much more challenging because Zip Tac is stickier than I am used to. Bubbles slide right to the edge with the right tools and give the books a nice smooth finish, but some leave a bubble trail. The plastic appears to be a bit thicker, but did not hold up over time. Now that a year has passed, some spines are cracking and need repair already even though the book was not even checked out.

I have been covering books with transparent adhesive paper for about 20 years, and this is the worse one I have ever used!! If I could, I would give it negative stars, on account of the elevation of my blood pressure using this! I usually use Contact or Duck brands, but had big books to cover and could only find those brands in small rolls at the time, so I decided to try this unknown (to me) brand. What a disaster!...
For starters, when you peel this paper off the backing sheet, it has a tendency to recoil on itself and stick to itself, and it's pretty much impossible to separate the 2 layers once it happens. Meaning you have to start all over again with a new cut of adhesive! Not exactly economical... If you are lucky enough to manage to get this on the book cover, brace yourself for more bad surprises!!... The paper doesn't adhere smoothly and it creates TONS of huge bubbles! Don't even attempt to gently peel it away to try and reapply, you run the risk of ripping the cover of your book --because this adhesive seem to bond instantly with whatever you're putting it on, in a bad way. The result is the most incredibly sloppy job you could imagine --even after spending a good 10 mns piercing and smoothing the air bubbles! I tried several times, it's hopeless. Makes me sad to pollute the environment by putting it in the trash...

I must say for the price I paid the product is not bad but, it wasn't what I was looking for. The paper is not really clear it has some type of not sure how to word it but it looks a bit frosted and I needed crystal clear I guess that was my mistake but the description did say clear contact paper well it is not.

Not easy to apply at all. When peeling it off the backing you touch the sticky part and you leave cloudy fingerprints. Was trying to put it on top of a nightstand so I wouldn’t damage it with water rings from my cup. Would get it straight and start slowing peeling and using a card to smooth it out. One wrinkle and you try to reposition it, forget it, start over where up lifted it is now cloudy. Couldn’t get this to work for me at all, tried twice and didn’t want to waste more of it.

I wish I had know about this before I set up my fish tank, so I could line the shelf with it! I got this to waterproof my clipboard after decoupaging it. Works great. I struggled to get it on but it easily pulls off to try again. The stickiness held up to like five attempts! Then I laminated a tag by folding it inside a piece. The plastic is flexible and stays well.

I love this only thing is that it is to sticky and when I use it for decals the decals doesn't want to come off I have to work with it to get it off it's kinda aggravating. I've had a couple projects mess up and I had to redo. Some times it leaves a sticky residue on vinyl decal as well

I used this to transfer vinyl for craft projects. While the shelf liner did work, the adhesive was a bit stronger/sticky than needed. There are cheaper options of shelf liners that do the same thing. I just wasn't impressed with the quality of the liner and the adhesive left behind.
