Step 1 Loosen the thumbscrew and open safety sheath.	Step 2 Attach blade, close the sheath, and tighten the screw.	Step 3 Attach the other end of the blade to tensioner handle and close cam lever.	Step 4 Use sheath as a handle and cut away.

Not designed to be your go to axe

I used this for several campouts without issue but the moment I used the axe portion to cut down a problem tree it started falling apart. The plastic end piece that holds the saw blade in place shattered under the shock of the axe head striking the tree and it will no longer function as a saw. The axe head and handle are fantastic and continue to function but I purchased this so that I wouldn't have to bring a separate saw when I went camping.

Solid intuitive product, but could use some practical improvement

The concept of this axe is really cool, and it is made with high quality products. The axe, hammer, and saw all function as they should.

My biggest issue with the product is the bottom of the handle where the plastic latch is. Most of the handle is a textured, easy to grip, material that holds well in the hand. The very end piece is smooth and slips through the hand easier. If you place your hand just above it, you also run the risk of opening the latch mid swing, and watching your saw blades fall out. This bottom handle design makes it difficult to maximize the leverage when using the axe, since your hand must rest about a third the way up the handles to prevent these issues.

This problem could be resolved by making a rubber sleeve the fits over the latch, or making a more tight fitting latch. It’s currently a pretty tragic flaw for such an expensive item.

Too many compromises

I wanted to like this product, but I just don't. In order to have both a saw and an axe, they compromised on both, and the result is 'meh.' The axe handle doesn't fit in the hand well, and just feels awkward. The back strap for the saw comes loose easily when using the axe. Also, the blades shake around in the handle, which is annoying. The saw handle (which is the axe head) feels awkward, and it doesn't cut that well. The blades themselves are not well made. There is not enough side to side spacing on the blade teeth. This creates a very narrow cutting channel, and the blade has a tendency to bind up in the channel as a result.

I'll give it three stars because it is innovative, and both the saw and axe do cut... They just don't do it well. It probably deserves 2 stars...

it does every thing it is intended to do. the only reason it is not a 5 star is because when the saw blade is in its storage compartment it rattles a bit, its just annoying it does not change the effectiveness of the saw.

Like the concept but the axe handle execution is not on target. Swinging this axe with the lever handle feels scary; like it might open up or just be uncomfortable for an extended use. I’ll likely do a paracord wrap or something if I need to really use this axe.

Great multi tool I didn’t know I needed!

When I ordered this I thought it would be more of a novelty item than a useful tool, it was anything but a novelty, it has a super ergonomic feel to it that allowed all of the group to use it comfortably, it was used by everyone to drive stakes for our tents (winter camp in January) it was also essential to prying our stakes back out of the frozen ground. The saw was great for trimming around camp and even cutting up the medium size logs around the fire. This is now my go to hatchet over anything else, it doesn’t replace my 28” axe but it’s versatility allows it to fill a niche that I can plan not to take my axe and process wood in a different manner while also having a large multi tool for everyday camp chores.
