Armor Chrome Lighters
The Armor lighters were first introduced into our stock line in 2005 which included the Brushed Brass, Brushed Chrome, High Polish Chrome, and High Polish Brass Armor models.
To achieve the deep carved look on the Armor lighters, the graphic is rendered in a state of the art 3D software. A powerful milling machine accurately engraves deep contoured cuts into an Armor case using many tool sizes, special buffing, and plating.
The deep carve process is used on Heavy-Wall Armor cases only.
The Armor lighters, like all Zippo windproof lighters, are backed by the famous Zippo Guarantee - 'It works or we fix it free'.
Any Zippo pocket lighter, when returned to our factory, will be put in first class mechanical condition free of charge, for we have yet to charge for the repair of a Zippo pocket lighter, regardless of age or condition. The finish, however, is not guaranteed.
- Case is 1.5 times as thick as a standard Zippo case
- Armor lighters will not fit our display stands
- Brite cut is limited to Armor cases only
- Deep carve can only be done on Heavy-Wall Armor cases
Limited to Armor cases only, bright-cut engraving produces dazzling high and low facets, resulting in the dimensional look of a beautiful emblem directly on the surface.
Two-Tone Rotary Process
Produced for the first time on Brushed Chrome Armor, the deep carve, tow-tone rotary process creates a tactile, emblem-like surface with definitive brass highlights.
Deep Carve/Epoxy Inlay
Zippo has achieved a striking multi-faceted dimensional look, without the additional weight and bulk of an attached emblem. An Armor case is deep carved and plated, then selectively epoxy filled for dramatic color accents.
Clear, marbled or solid epoxies can be inlayed into deep cavities by highly skilled artisans.
Only the chrome Armor can be color-filled as the color-fill scratches the gold plating.
Antique Silver Plate
This has been one of Zippo's most popular finishes for nearly two decades and has been fortified to about 1.5 times its original weight in the Armor version of Antique Silver Plate.
The Antique lighters have unique finish to give it a used, nostalgic, and time-worn look. The flat finish offers a 'weathered' look that is created by staining the pieces before they are tumbled. Each antique lighter is protected by a long-wearing clear coat to preserve the antique look.
Case and Insert
Armor case featuring rounded corners and top with a flat bottom. Armor lighter cases are about 1.5 times as thick.
Uses, standard inside unit that has 16 holes in the chimney (8 per side); same as current Zippo lighter.
A five-barrel hinge joins the top and bottom; same as current Zippo lighter.
Distinctive bottom stamp authenticates these chrome and solid brass lighters as Heavy-Walled Armor.

It really lights in the wind so we use it to start fires in our outside fireplace very often. We have replaced the wick a few times and also the flints but they are really easy to manage. Make sure you just buy some flints, wicks and fluid so you have them when needed. We are not smokers but we use the lighter often to light candles and fires. It’s a good purchase.
How I rate --
5 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, is a good value at the price point purchased, would buy again or recommend to a friend.
4 Stars: Works mostly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product, might have a minor flaw.
3 Stars: Generally works but it may not be a good value at the price point or might like to see changes / improvements.
2 Stars: Barely works but can be made useful if you try.
1 Star: Useless, does not perform its intended function whatsoever and is generally a waste of money, sending it back.
Overall: I am giving this a five star rating based on my criteria above. The lighter is worth every penny in my opinion. It works well and should last a lifetime. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask in the comments. I will try to respond. If you found my review helpful or lacking also let me know I like to continuously improve. I hope this helps you with your decision making process.
anyway i had a very mini butane torch and it was a hassle refueling it plus it was temperamental but it would go out on a windy day - also tried kitchen butane lighters and regular bic-like butane lighters but it would go out with the slightest breeze.
so i bought a zippo 'windproof' lighter for these occasions - and this did the job. it wasn't hurricane windy but it was windy enough that i would have had trouble with the aforementioned various butane equipment. broke out my new zippo fueled up the evening before and it does as advertised - lit my incense - it stayed light even when the wind blew in various directions - it was on for a good 3-4 min without any trouble. lit the candles as well.
i chose this particular 'design' brushed chrome because nothing is as elegant as an understated zippo and it's well made. and it's made in the USA.
the missus approves too -- so happy wife happy life.
i don't smoke ... but when i burn offerings i use a zippo.
These heavier "Armor" versions of the standard design are even better as they are tougher and have an even more solid feel to them when you "snick" them open/closed. The sheetmetal is about twice as thick, making them even more rugged than their amply-tough predecessors.
And the heavier/sturdier build quality really doesn't make them any less-affordable. Remember how much money you'll save in the long-term by not having to buy disposable cheapo unreliable plastic lighters...
I prefer the polished chrome finish, as it's pretty & seems to be the best @ resisting scratches. I've had my Armor Zippo a couple of years now, with daily use & storage in pockets with other hard/sharp objects, and it has only minor surface scratches. I tell ya, these things are TOUGH & worth every penny.
