Even better than the last one

I bought EL-730 version of the Zippy but this version is even better, addressing all the shortcomings of the last one...

For price, this is the best keyboard ever. It is very high quality in every way: the look, the feel, and the ergonomics. It is heavy enough so it doesn't slide around easily, it is the same width as a 16 inch laptop, and the keys are all easy to find by touch typing (I tried other narrow width keyboards and the keys were not at all easy to find by touch typing). The backlight function has its own separate key, instead of incorporating it into another key (like using the scroll lock key in some backlit keyboards, which is very annoying if you are typing in low light conditions and are using a spreadsheet which also requires use of the scroll lock key). The keys are easy to see in all lighting conditions (so you can find the keys that aren't meant for touch typing). The lighting can be adjusted for any taste (or mood).

The ENTER and BACKSPACE keys are large compared to the other keys, making them very conducive for touch-typing, but unlike EL-730, even the arrow keys are easy to find by touch-typing. This keyboard can be seen from any angle. The special function keys are where they belong and are easy to use.

This is clearly one great keyboard!

The quietest!!

Verified Purchase

First, the only "cons":
-Right shift and backspace key placement/size is untraditional (but you get used to it within a few days)
-Back lighting won't work after computer comes out of sleep mode in Windows 7 (but works fine after a restart OR just unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in)
-No volume adjustment

The pros:
-By far one of the quietest keyboards I've ever used. It's no louder than a traditional laptop keyboard with the scissor key design. Perfect for late night work without disturbing others. The feet/base are also padded so it doesn't make noise or 'wiggle' against the desk as you type.
-Backlit keys also make this ideal for late night work with minimal disturbance.
-Broad colour range allows complete customisation to match your system.
-Keys are responsive enough for gaming (FPS, flash games, etc.)
-Hotkeys for music player, internet, email and search are very useful.
-I consider a hard wire a pro. There's no battery or interference to worry about.
-Keyboard is very solid and has enough weight not to move around as you type.
-Compact, sleek, and stylish design.
-Price can't be beat for the features and performance you get!!

Update:
-2 years later and still going strong. None of my keys are wearing off as some other reviewers have mentioned
-The search hotkey is amazing for Windows 8 apps. It works in all of them and is much less of a hassle than accessing the same function through gestures/hovering and is easier to remember than Win+Q

Stylish Keyboard for the price

I got to say this keyboard is so much better than I thought it would be a specially after buying a keyboard on amazon and the product was cheap and not as advertised (I literally had open the box and some keys were already off so I packed it back up and bought this one).

Pros:
-I love the flat keys on it, its very much like typing on a laptop which I happen to love.
-The media keys actually work and do what there supposed to do, I have many media keyboards that didn't work or I had to set them up and I always found that to be annoying.
-Now about the lighting on this keyboard is just amazing I was thinking about getting the tron keyboard from razor but when I looked around online and read the reviews it lead me to this guy and I am glad that it did, not only is it much and I do mean much cheaper, it's lighter and more programmable. The options for changing the color, saving your color, having it cycle or even go from brighter to dim is great.
-and yes it's anti-ghosting on wasd for you gamers out there

Cons:
-before this I was using a wireless keyboard from Microsoft (the arc which I love but it had to much ghosting on it to play my mmo's properly) but it was a more compact design so I am a little thrown off about the layout on this on, but I am getting use to a full keyboard again. But I have to say some of the key placements do take a little time to get use it. As an example: the enter key is huge its a possible to hit it by accident, also directly underneath the enter key is the arrow keys and shift key so some times when I am tying really fast I can go about 70 wpm I wind up hitting the up arrow instead of the shift key because of the location and size, also the backspace key is a little smaller than most.
-The other con that's a little annoying is when your computer goes into sleep mode the lights will stop working you have to either restart your computer or just unplug the keyboard and replug it back in. Since I have a usb hub right on top of my desk its really not that big of a deal for me but for other people it might be a little hard for them.

Also I forgot to mention I am running on windows 7 and I don't have any problem compatible wise.

All and all a great keyboard for the price with just a few little quirks to get used to and over come.
