The CF 12 Pro Kit comes packaged in a lockable plastic case and includes clips and blades for easy access to most outlets, including 230 and 240 volt industrial. The kit also contains light socket and 120 V AC plug adapters for use with finished circuits. FEATURES: Scan for easy identification and labeling of all breakers -- Finds breakers faster and more efficiently without trial-and-error work or accidental shutoffs -- Isolate circuits for repair or replacement, or work on specific circuits without interrupting others -- Blades allow easy access to most outlets, including industrial 230 and 240 volt -- Automatic sensitivity adjustment - no knobs or dials -- One-light simple-green LED indicates proper breaker From the Manufacturer Tired of flicking fuse box breakers on and off to find the right electrical circuit? - Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2011This unit works as advertised. Simply follow the instructions, including the panel pre-scan, and the proper breaker is identified every time. I wish all circuit finders worked this well.
The only reason I did not give this the full five stars is that the quality of the carrying case could be better.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2008After running back and forth turning on and off circuit breakers, I had enough and bought this circuit finder. A was getting really tired of setting all the clocks in the house after turning off the breakers to find the right one. This circuit finder is very useful and finds the breaker your looking for. It hasn't missed one yet. The sensor tip picks up the signal from the transmitter at the breaker. It's well made and comes in a nice carry case to keep you organized and prevents damage to the tool. I recommend this in conjuntion with Greenlee's circuit tester, a $5 dollar tool that will let you know if a wire is hot or not. You can never be too safe with electricity. I recommend this tool, just be safe and smart while using it. As always if you're not comfortable with it in your hands you should call an electrician.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2008This Zircon tracing unit was purchased in preparation for extensive rework of a main household electrical panel. It looked great, both in description and when it arrived. But it proved to be completely useless in operation. I followed the instructions meticulously, taking special care to calibrate the unit by passing the sensor over all the breakers in the box. It would sometimes sense breakers in the vicinity of the correct one but that once sensed, they set the calibration to a level that could not be repeated, so on a second pass across the breakers, there was NO indication of finding a breaker. [It sometimes sensed breakers that had no relation to the circuit being traced) After trying to trace three separate circuits, I made one final test: I used the receiver to sense the transmitter directly. I then "sensed" an outlet not far away and returned to retest the transmitter - even that did not work. At that point the unit went back into its box and back to Amazon.
Today the electrician who came to do the work on the electrical panel traced the circuits by turning on lights and having a helper visually see what went off when he tripped certain breakers. He explained that they had found transmitter/receiver systems to do this unreliable. It's possible I got a defective unit. It's possible others who gave high reviews were lucky, not sure. But for my money this device was a pure waste of time; were it not for Amazon's return policy it would also have ben a waste of money. Pity.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2012I bought this to use at the data center where I work. Had almost 1,000 circuits to find and verify that the receptacles were labeled properly. It worked on a few circuits, but it was so hit-or-miss that I didn't trust that it correctly identified the breakers that it toned on. I brought in my circuit finder that I use at home which is made by Ideal and it worked perfectly. Plus the Ideal circuit finder is $70 cheaper than this unit.
I did like the accessories that came with this unit, but that's about all. In fact, I cut the leads off of the tone generator, wired them onto an electrical cord, and used it with my circuit finder.
It might be good for home use, but really it should work anywhere if it is a good product and does what it is supposed to do.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2013My effort was to track all the circuits in a circa 1900 house that has been wired, changed and added on to for 50 plus years. It worked as indicated but it was really sensitive to breakers on one side or the other of the target breaker which meant I had to turn the breaker off to confirm == It really takes two people to work through all the outlets/lights in a house, one at the breaker box and one moving around the rooms. In the end we tossed the unit and simply resorted to flipping breakers. In a one person operation it would be the only resource though that would be useful to narrow down a circuit.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2011Does exactly what it is designed to do, but absolutely nothing more. I had hoped that I could use it with fuses but it seems to be marginal with fuses - tends to report positive on multiple fuses and the multiple fuses are even necessarily right next to each other; however, sometimes it works. I had hoped that I could use it to locate other outlets on the same circuit without having to plug in the transmitter into every outlet and keep running back to the breaker box - sometimes this seems to work, but maybe about a 50% success rate. I had hoped that I could use it to trace wires but it is basically worthless at doing that - maybe 5% success rate. I had hoped to use it to identify wall switches on the same circuit as a receptacle - 0% success rate. Also, locating the given circuit breaker is not very quick - you have to scan every breaker in the box (ignoring any signals it gives you, then scan every breaker in the box again to identify the desired breaker. Then, if you really want to be sure I suggest you turn it off/on and repeat both scans again. On several occasions it took 4,5, or 6 complete scans of all of the circuit breakers to locate the given breaker. Sometimes it doesn't identify any breaker and sometimes it identifies multiple breakers. But if you take the time, it seems that you can be 99.99% sure that you have identified the correct breaker. Given that I tend to work on the same general set of breaker boxes and it isn't that critical that I don't turn off the wrong breaker while doing a little bit of trial and error switching it falls into the realm of an expensive toy for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2012I like the clips, prongs & plug in conectors which expand the ability check circuits. One problem is I could not identify circuits on a sub panel for my generator when I needed to replace a light switch.
