This useful addition to Zircon's popular line of handy job site gadgetry is a great tool for any worker with a questionable short-term memory. The built-in digital voice recorder can save up to 20 seconds of information, ensuring that your cuts match your original measurements every time. While the sound quality isn't designed to impress audiophiles, this is carpentry, not the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; we think the Repeater sounds just fine considering its intended use. The tape measure itself is equal to most we've tried, and we had no problems. While the Repeater may not be the best buy for a carpenter with a photographic memory (a creature we have yet to meet), we think it's a great timesaving idea for the rest of us. --Brian Trinen
From the Manufacturer
Tired of writing down all your measurements only to lose the paper they're written on? Now you can record your measurements with the built-in voice recorder of the Repeater contractor-grade tape measure. Simple to use, the recorder allows you to capture up to 20 seconds of measurements on the spot and automatically adjusts the volume for any distance up to 3 feet (1 meter). The rigid tape extends 7 feet (2 meters) without buckling and has a three-rivet claw. The Repeater comes with a tough plastic outer casing and locking mechanism for tape control and fits neatly into standard tape holders and tool belts.

I've had mine for several years and it's still going strong. How often have you had to measure something and it's " just a little more than 25 and 5/16"? With this, when you're standing at the saw and can't remember exactly, your own voice can verify so you can "measure twice and cut once."
I think it is a great tool. It is slightly larger than a standard tape measure, but the benefit being able to record mesaurements makes this more useful than any ordinary tape measure.
A good time to use this is whenever you are measuring when standing on a ladder. It is very difficult to write notes when you are up on a ladder, but with the Repeater, all you have to do is press a button and start talking.
When I first received this as a gift, I was expecting it to be a flimsy tape measure with a cheap recording device built in. I found quite the opposite. The recorder works great, and the tape itself is as good as any other tape that I have used.
Next time you measure, then cut and realize that you were off becuase you forgot the exact measurement, just think about the repeater.
