I grew up in Spain, and this olive oil is bland compared to what I am used to
It is rare to find Olive oil from Spain in grocery stores and I thought Amazon was a safe bet in terms of moving the product and not getting something that is rancid after sitting around for a long time.
Overall, it is an OK oil, but it is nothing special. very little, to no distinction from Italian olive oils you can find anywhere.
Costco's Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil tastes better than this.
La Espanola olive oil found at a supermarket was better than this.
As I stated, it is okay.
I've read some comments about the poor packaging in shipping - that some of the cans are badly damaged when received. The packaging has impoved - they're now using a very good method in packaging to prevent denting the cans. Not wanting to take out the 25.5 ounce can every time I need to use a small amount of olive oil, I fill a 4 ounce amber colored glass bottle with a one finger press- down pump that quirts out a small amount of oil per pump. The Seller of this olive oil is doing a wonderful job in maintaining the oil's integrity by using these beautiful tin conbtainers in keeping out the light which can adversely affects the oil. The Zoe Organic Virgin Olive Oil pleases me in all my olive oil needs. I also give the container 5 stars.
Maybe it's not Amazon - maybe it's the supplier price increase -- but it is a sad turn of events.
Just read a bunch of articles about how low olive oil prices are hurting europe -- sounds like gouging to me.
I use olive oil whenever I really want its flavor, instead of coconut oil, and one of my prime uses these days is in a home health technique called oil-pulling. That means I put a tablespoon of olive oil in my mouth every morning. The first time I tasted the Zoe Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil I did a little head-jig. The flavor is not the same mild taste I was accustomed to. But it's organic and so I decided to just get used to it. That was no problem, especially since the ease of use ranks so high.
One drawback with my 1st tin: I had lots of trouble figuring out how to open it, and spilled a bit. For the 2nd tin I knew to bend the half-circle strip up and then pull it out perpendicular to the top of the tin. I succeeded in pulling it to the full extension, while with the 1st tin I only got it extended part way. Still, I find the extension is quite handy to prevent wasted and spilled oil so I'm happy with it.
I'm not sure if the slightly bitter oil taste comes from a certain variety of of olive or if it is a result of packaging or minimal processing. Some people might be put off by that, but that's another reason I value shopping with Amazon.

This is my second pack this year. We all love the taste and texture. Mainly we use this oil for salad dressings and cooking in cast iron, which brings out the aroma as well. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Elsa Williams
