Product Features
What is Induction Heating (IH)?
The heating method known as Induction Heating (IH) occurs when a magnetic material is placed in a magnetic field. In our case, coils within the bottom of the rice cooker create the magnetic field. When the inner cooking pan is placed into the rice cooker and the unit is activated, a magnetic field is generated to create instant heat within the inner cooking pan. Through this technology the inner cooking pan itself becomes the heat source utilizing both high heat and fine heating adjustments to control the cooking process.
What is Germinated Brown Rice?
Germinated brown rice is a type of brown rice that is ready to be germinated by a special process. The process gives a softer texture and improved taste. It also contains increased values of GABA. It is a type of rice that must be purchased, and can be cooked using the Softer menu. Germinated brown rice is sometimes called sprouted brown rice.
What is Clear Coating?
The rice cooker’s stainless steel exterior is coated with a clear coating to minimize the exterior from becoming dirty.
What is the Jasmine Setting?
This is a special menu setting for cooking Jasmine white rice. The cooking flow is different than the White rice setting because Jasmine rice cooks differently than short or medium grain white rice.
What is Automatic Keep Warm and Extended Keep Warm?
The rice cooker automatically switches to Keep Warm once it completes cooking. Changing to Extended Keep Warm is recommended when keeping rice warm for longer than 8 hours. The rice cooker keeps warm the rice at a slightly lower temperature when Extended Keep Warm is selected to minimize drying and yellowing of rice.
What is Melody Signal?
A melody sounds to alert when cooking begins, timer is set, or cooking has completed. The default setting is 'Melody' but may be changed to beeps or silent mode.
GABA Brown Setting (Brown Rice Activation)
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a type of amino acid said to lower blood pressure, improve kidney function, and relieve stress. The rice cooker activates brown rice by keeping the temperature inside the pan at about 104°F for 2 hours, increasing the nutrient 1.5 times.

So, against her wishes, I splurged and got my dream rice cooker. The first night we got it I cooked Jasmine Rice. More grumbling about how long it took to cook...an hour for Jasmine Rice!?$&@? Not my best sales pitch. But then I asked her to describe her Rice experience with the cheaper cooker. Uneven cooking, wet spots, etc... Fast forward to an hour later...PERFECT RICE! What? PERFECT RICE! "Worth the wait," she says.
The next we went to the store. "What other kinds of should we try?" she asks. What about that GABA Brown Rice? No problem, we waited two hours for that batch, but it was even better than the first! What about grits? (She is from Georgia) no problem; I even found a recipe for grits casserole in the rice cooker. What about parboiled rice? She has now ventured out on her own. I believe we now have five different kinds of rice in our cabinet. All have their own setting, and all come out perfect.
No more do I hear discussion about cheaper rice cookers that don't perfectly steam the rice. This device delivers perfection and keeps Rice for days on the extended warm setting. I'm not kidding, five days! I can't say enough.
Bottom line, spend the money. Get the larger model. Explore new rices. Smile! One of my best purchases.
Top reviews from other countries
Overall, I would say that cheaper (non-inductive) models may be a wiser choice for people looking best value for their money.
What I liked about it:
1. It cooks rice very well and rice stays freshly cooked for a very long time.
2. It is easier to clean both the outside and inside. Not sure why no one mentions it: the inductive heating means that inside of a rice cooker just under the cooking pan does not have any gaps where rice or any other debris can fall into, making it very easy to clean. Also this model has a very flat surface on the top (while the old model had some strange indentations where rice was always getting stuck).
3. Hot air escape path has two membranes: the vent (they call it "air vent set") and the standard one (combination of a stainless steel lid and rubber at its edges). Together this allows to retain water better inside of the cooker and prevents rice from drying longer. The vent and lid are easy to remove and clean.
4. Sounds/music can be turned off for start/end of cooking cycle unlike the old model where the choice was between a melody and beeps.
5. It has better looks and more practical exterior.
6. The pan is heavier and has more solid build to it.
7. The menu has a new option - Jasmine rice.
The shortcomings:
1. Inductive heating and additional membrane make cooking a bit louder than the old version. Not terribly loud, but comparing to the old model (non-inductive) it is certainly louder. The especially annoying part is a hissing sound that happens every minute or so during keep warm stage.
2. The cooking pan does not have handles and rotates when you try to scoop rice. The old model had plastic handles, which both - allowed you to hold/lift it with you bare hands and at the same time prevented the pan from spinning when taking the rice out. It is very surprising to see a newer and more expensive model to get worse in this regard.
3. The old model had cable retractor, the new model does not have it.
My family loves the rice without any salt or anything else in it. They also love it with boy chow or some other veggies mixed in. Also make sure you fluff the rice in the cooker after it is done to get out the moisture. Fluffing it, after cooking is done, helps to release extra moisture (steam) from your rice so that it doesn't get sticky when you leave it on the WARM feature, or when you serve it.
The induction rice cooker is pricey but worth every penny. It is a great time saver and go to staple for our meals. It's great for leftovers the next day. We store it in an air tight Tupperware for the next days meal, or lunch for school.
