Zoo Med's new Can O' products are the latest in reptile nutrition and convenience. Our full line of feeder insects are cooked in the can (called retorting) which locks in the flavor and freshness while also softening the exoskeleton for easier digestion. Small size crickets. The crickets are very very small (1/4"-1/3"). If your dragon likes hunting, use a pair of dull tweezers to dangle them above it's head. The can is resealable and comes with a small plastic spoon. What you're really paying for here is convenience, and you really get your money's worth.
I wish I had tried a bigger size. These were pretty small crickets and my leos are on the large size. Plus the crickets are a bit mushy and many of them fell apart so I ended up just having a bunch of tiny pieces of crickets. Lovely right?
I was able to get my older leo to eat these but she's not all that crazy about them. My younger lizard seems pretty disgusted by them lol. I can't say I really blame her, as they do have a weird smell.
All in all neither my lizards or I were overly impressed with these, but they weren't a total fail. I do think I'll eventually try a bigger size of crickets, maybe another brand, and/or canned bugs other than crickets just to give my geckos more variety.
I keep the can in the fridge for a few days once opened & then move it to the freezer & it lasts me about a month to feed the two lizards every other day. They look great & have had no health issues.
