New Zealand Sphagnum Moss is preferred over any other type of moss for terrarium use due to its unique softness and amazing moisture-holding ability. This lush carpet-like moss can hold moisture up to 20 times its dry weight. Great for live plants and incredibly long-lasting; after other substrates have decomposed, this moss remains usable and can be washed and reused several times. Harvested using sustainable methods to ensure that it will be around for future generations.

Very pleased with this moss. It's literally perfect for my little Gallywag, and I recommend to anyone who needs a moisture/humidity holding substrate.
BUT, and this is a big but, there is one huge problem I have run into. My first bag had some, my second had several. You need to be very careful of thorns. Wherever this is harvested, there must be plants with thorns that occasionally get mixed in and these are sharp half inch+ thorns! I have luckily only stabbed myself with these and not my reptiles, but the last thing you expect when reaching into a soft patch of fluffy moss or wringing it out to put in an enclosure is a handful of spikes! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
The moss is high quality, clean, light colored, and only has a few twigs in it. This will be my go-to for sphagnum moss for my plants from now on!
