This is a great science curriculum! We have learned a lot and really enjoyed using it. You will find yourself observing birds everywhere or looking for insects in a new light. --Fortunately For You Books
There is more activity and variety in these courses than in traditional textbooks. The format makes it easy for parents to provide an excellent balance of information and activity that should be very effective for science instruction in the elementary grades. --Cathy Duffy Reviews
This is an excellent college-preparatory course for high school . . . The microscopic slides are wonderful quality, and are a great teaching tool with the course. The dissections are fun, easy, and interesting. The textbook reads easily. The author has a wonderful writing style that keeps the student interested. --Curriculum Choice
About the Author
Jeannie Fulbright is a mother of four who shares with her readers a love for God's Word, family, homeschooling, and science. She began speaking and writing in college as a sportscaster for the University of Texas and as a headline writer with the Daily Texan. Soon after her family set out on their homeschool journey, Jeannie recognized an immense need for scientifically sound creation-based curriculum that would be both engaging for kids and easy for parents to use. Her background in science at the University of Texas inspired her to create the Apologia elementary science courses.

The text has a very friendly layout and the text is so unlike a textbook. The way the information is presented makes the information come alive. My son LOVES this book and looks forward to reading (and listening) to it.
I love that this book emphasizes the mystery of faith with the truth of science in a very non-threatening non-creationist way.
The mystery is laid out in such a way that it prompts wonderful discussion with my child about how it's just fine to not know all the answers and to enjoy the facts that we know for sure.
Thank you, Jeannie Fulbright, for such a fantastic and well-written book.
I will be buying the books in the rest of this series because of how terrific this book is.
The only problem was that about halfway through the book, they started losing interest a little. I think they just kept getting so tired about learning about birds. Elementary aged kids are so curious about so many things in the world, so why limit them to one topic for an entire year?
We liked the idea at first, but it got to be too much. If maybe they spent a month on one topic and moved into something else, that would work better.
We still have yet to find a good science program. For now, books from the library, and our own backyard have become our science.
