Having experience with the excellent Zotac ID-41 Zbox units I purchased two of these. Both units easily installed ubuntu linux and were up and running very quickly. However, they did not last long. The first unit passed away after one month. The second unit lasted a bit longer at six weeks. I am still waiting to hear back from Zotac USA as they have not responded to a single email.

System was running for two weeks, then died.
Working to get a replacement now. System is very sluggish when installing Windows for the first time. The install goes quickly once you have the chip-set drivers installed.

**Update** (Oct. 13th 2012)
I sent the unit back to Zotac which they replaced.
The new unit has been working for a while now.
Windows 7 with 4G RAM, a little sluggish at times but I'm happy with how loaded the system is.
I was able to fit to the back of one of my old displays and we now use it on the kitchen bar for Skype and browsing... perfect use.

Then only thing that's a negative is Via`s poor Linux support, put in a 64gb ssd and 4gb ddr3 and this box rocks

I guess I should have known better: with a non-AMD, non-nVidia GPU on board, this is not the most Linux-friendly HTPC on the market. Ubuntu boots and installs just fine, but as of this writing, the only graphics driver available is a beta-quality driver on VIA's web site, in a TAR, that you have to compile yourself. And I haven't been able to compile it on 12.04 successfully just yet.

The machine also runs hotter and louder than I thought it would. My advice would be to steer clear of this model and go with one of the Atom-based Zboxes available on Amazon. A few more dollars will get you a much more friendly PC.
