Entire package comes with: Zune Dock w/ affixed USB sync/charge cable, 3 dock plates for the different Zune models (30GB, 4/8/16GB, and 80/120GB), A/C adapter, A/V output cables, and a wireless remote (it communicates with the dock). The dock comes with the 4/8/16GB plate already in place and the other plates are in the packaging; they have printed labels on the underside of each plate for it's compatible model (it's very easy to change them out and the device connector slides back and forth depending on which plate is inserted). The dock is also compatible with component video (the back of the dock has a cover that can be removed to show the component video output jacks and a selector switch for choosing A/V or Component Video). Only music is available for the 4 and 8GB Zunes, they do not offer video output. The 30GB does not offer component video output.
Only complaint is that the battery in the remote was dead, but with how long Zune items have been discontinued I am not surprised or upset about this; I just replaced the battery (CR2032 3V lithium battery) and the remote works perfectly. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend this to other Zune owners!
Build on this is top class no issues. NOT some cheap base, really great quality here. And the remote control is handy.
By it's self perfect for home entertainment.
Now for the bad.
For some reason the right audio channel does not work when I plug it into a TV. If I plug it into my HIFI without the video in, then the audio works perfect. And that is the only thing wrong other than I had to replace the remotes battery which was DOA. No big deal.
Now I don't have RGB cords (or enough RCA cables for that matter anymore) so I can not test out my theory that it has something to do with the way that it's wired.
So whenever I get my hands on some RCA cords I will try again and edit my review.
As for now it does work on my garage HIFI just fine.
This dock was developed for the pre-HD series but it works well with my Zune HD. I'm using it for audio only. Some compromises are involved using this dock with a Zune HD: the HD FM radio has no antenna connection in this dock (the HD-specific docks have an antenna attached) so it won't pick up any stations. The Zune HD doesn't fit any of the included plastic mounting panel inserts, so it just stands up on the connector and I suppose it could be bent if it were bumped hard enough.
Picking an album and playing it through while kicking back on the couch is where this dock works well, considering the remote. The remote just needed a new battery. It works for the basic functions- volume, play/pause, skipping tracks. Batteries are around 50 cents on eBay.
Overall, a pretty great device for ten bucks!
The dock has a sync cable coming out the back that can either plug into the included wall charger or a computer. There are outlets for either AV out (cables included) or RGB cables. It comes with a remote that mirrors the buttons on the older Zunes, but like another reviewer said, you'll need to replace the CR2032 battery since this discontinued product has unfortunately been waiting out its days on some shelf somewhere. At this price, I can afford to buy my own batteries though.
Viva la Zune!
