This thing came in as one of my wifes anniversary gifts. she has chronic shoulder nerve pain on one side, and the absolute only thing that helps her out is getting an intensely hard massage. so, after my fingers and hands were ground to stumps from the repeated massages, i had to find a solution. this is it! it is amazing, rubs super deep, and on top of it all, has heat that helps relax her. I opened it up and set it up for her, and within 5 minutes on the auto mode w heat, she was unconscious. Side Note: This thing is intense! if you dont like a hard massage, its not for you. for example, i gave it a shot, and after turning it on, i had to have my friend pull it off of me as i laid almost helpless on the floor as it beat the crap out of my back. but, for those seeking that 200 pound burly Swedish man vice grip hands deep tissue massage, look no further. this thing rocks!

I'm comparing the Zyllion zma-08, Zyllion zma-05, and the Iliving ILG-916. I'm not certain but I'd ventured to guess that the zma-05 was the previous generation model to the zma-08. The zma-05 doesn't have the heat function. It also starts up when powered on to the strength setting of 5 which packs a *startling* punch. It will startle you. The zma-08 starts out at a strength setting of 3 which is much more manageable. It's curious why they don't start out at 0 or 1. The heat setting is a nice touch and appreciated.

I tested the iLiving for a moment. It's not nearly as padded as the Zyllion. From the exterior it doesn't feel as well made as the Zyllion by a far margin. It does power up on either 0 or 1. I do think the thumping patterns are also quite nice. But I couldn't get over the esthetics along with the comfort factor of the well-padded Zyllion.

I've owned my Zyllion neck and shoulder massager for the last month and have really enjoyed this product! My work requires me to be sitting for the majority of the day. As a result, my neck and shoulder area tends to be very tense and sore. I was thinking of investing in a massager for quite a while and was doing a lot of research online comparing many different brands and functions. I was a bit skeptical at first about Zyllion's massager and actually wrote a few emails inquiring them about the features/functions of their product. Zyllion's customer service was top-notch. They responded promptly, professionally, and addressed my questions with satisfactory answers. I also purchased their Hot Pot handheld personal massager because it is just so cute and convenient. I keep my neck and shoulder massager in my office. I really like their auto shut-off after 15 minutes. I used this function as my "mini breaks" throughout my workday, in a way forcing me to relax and attend to myself. I also like the varied power settings. I find that I usually start with 3 and then gradually increase to 4 or 5. 5 and 6 work well for me for lower back and thigh areas. The hand pockets are fabulous! In my opinion, the ultra comfy hand pockets really stood out for me among other brands. The heating option is nice too and help relax my arms. I highly recommend this product and am planning to purchase another to keep at home!

I liked the Brookstone massager so much at the store that I came to Amazon looking for a cheaper alternative. This massager is like the Brookstone massager on steroids. It is much more powerful and heavier. The biggest two things that I noticed were that the percussion balls in the Brookstone massager are closer together and probably better suited for a smaller individual. Whereas the Brookstone massager's percussions are lighter, they can be quicker, while the Zyllion massager is more of a "brute" and really pound on your back. You can tell just by looking at the shipping weight. This massager is about twice the weight of the Brookstone massager. I really like this one, but if you don't usually like hard massages, I'd probably go with the Brookstone massager.

My biggest cons about this are:
1. when you plug this in the massager seems to give a quick pound that can startle you;
2. the percussion balls are placed a tad too far apart for any meaningful neck massage (I have a 17" neck so it's not like my neck is skinny) - perfect to massage the traps though;
3. you can't lean back on your couch with this in between you - seems to keep the massager from having the clearance to do its thing;
4. even when you don't turn the heat on, this gets kind of hot;
5. the off button isn't really an off button - you can still feel the electricity generating heat onto the massager and the status screen stays on, so you really have to unplug this after every use.

Conclusion - I still like this for its brute force and ability to get the knots out. The Brookstone massager is more delicate and also feels good though.

Just took it out of the box and my expectations are not just met, but exceeded. My upper shoulders are constantly tight and amazingly, this crazy looking shoulder massager actually has the power to pound them out. The heat is a nice feature, but it's really the strength of the pounding that helps the most, even at power level 1, it's a good force. At higher powers, it's fantastic. Definitely recommend.
