Product Description

The aden + anais muslin swaddles are so silky, it will be love at first touch when you get your hands on them. Made with the rayon from bamboo fiber muslin, these swaddles are soft and comfortable against your baby's skin. The large size makes swaddling easy for the parents while the breathable, lightweight fabric prevents babies from overheating. This swaddle blanket is made with silky rayons from bamboo fiber muslin, a lightweight, natural fabric that is breathable and comfortable. The swaddle blanket features a natural open weave that helps reduce the risk of overheating during the summer while keeping your baby warm in the colder months. Although it may feel like these swaddles can't get any softer, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The muslin tends to get silkier every time you wash it. And with a variety of prints that are made of natural low impact dyes and are free of azo chemical compounds, the designs are as beautiful as the fabric.

I got really sick of everybody refering to these as natural and bamboo. Well, sorry but these swaddlers are not really bamboo. Rayon can be made with bamboo fibers or any plant fiber as an initial ingredient but they are chemically broken down in a very pollutant heavy chemical process several times and remade into an entirely new substance. Rayon is considered semi-synthetic. Real bamboo cloth is a natural fiber like cotton or silk but not soft enough to be suitable for swaddling. A+A attempted to use the bamboo title to sound eco-friendly and deceptive (like using a creamier background color so it appears "unbleached" similar to organic cottons). By tricking you into thinking you are buying a more natural type product they also slap a higher price tag on the wraps even though rayon is cheaper than cotton. They got in trouble marketing it as bamboo, by the U.S. government: hence the 100% rayon label and reluctant rayon add to the title. The efforts to get them to comply more fully are ongoing. I have the A+A white cotton bubble gauze type wraps (only Aussies call that muslin)and they are far more natural and leave less of a carbon footprint; if you care about such things. I do. But at least if you read this you know and can research it yourself to verify. I think A+A is very very sneaky pulling the rayon swaddler over everybody's eyes. I stick with my cotton and have had those for almost four years and two kids and the cotton has held up perfectly.

I bought this for my new born baby. It's soft, I like it. However, I noticed that there's fiber in my daughter's hands and feet every time I checked. I've washed the swaddle for more than seven times, still can't stop fiber coming off from the swaddle. My daughter likes to chew her finger and she swallow the fiber down!

I have several A+A products including many many of their cotton swaddling blankets, dream blankets, bibs, etc. I really love their bamboo line the most because it is incredibly soft. I am due with a boy in 2 weeks and was thrilled to FINALLY see a more boyish print in their bamboo line. Although many of the prints would work for a boy, I really didn't want flowery designs. These prints are amazing. The solid color one is by far the softest because it has no print on it (I also recommend the plain Earthly set for the same reason). I just cannot describe the softness. My 21 month old loves her Mela ones and sleeps with it every night.

I do recommend washing them on a gentle cycle and only drying it for a few minutes. They dry fast. I learned with my daughter's Mela Bamboo swaddles if you aren't careful washing they pill up very badly. All I had to do was email Aden and Anais and send them a picture, though, and they replaced the entire set free of charge. But I am now very careful with the bamboo line. The cotton line is much less high maintenance but just aren't as soft until several several washings. If you are between the cotton or bamboo I would highly suggest the bamboo line. Its amazing.

I have purchased the aden + anais bamboo swaddles in 3 different patterns (Tranquility, Pyara, and Mela)- and while I love the texture of the bamboo (have gone to local retail and felt with my fingers the vast difference between A+A bamboo vs A+A organic cotton - the bamboo is hands down MUCH softer) - the patterns on Mela are scratchy. Not sure if it's the dye they use or whatever technique they use to get the orange / blue patterns on - the white parts of the fabric feels soft, but the orange patches are hard, esp if you had put the brighter side "in" (closer to baby) and even if you put it the correct side out, it's still scratchy. Not a problem at all with Tranquility or Pyara, even the more heavily patterned pieces in those trios.

I have to say, these are super soft & feel great. But ours keeps shedding fuzz for some odd reason, even after washing and drying. My baby gets covered in fuzz from his hair to his hands and feet. Contacted Aden + Anais and they have the best customer service- they sent us replacements. Instead of risking more fuzz & giving these another try though, we opted to go back to their original swaddles that we already love.
Wish the originals were just as soft as these!

I'm writing this review at 2:43am as I guide my 2 month old son back to sleep after switching him back to s regular a&a swaddle. I bought the bamboo thinking it'd be softer than the normal swaddles (it's not). The issue if you're going to actually use them to swaddle is that they lose their elasticity after the initial use. Tonight i wrapped my son up and once he wiggled his way out at 2am, which he does every night, I couldn't pull the swaddle taught again. No matter how tightly I wrapped him, he was able to just take his arms out. Back to a regular Aden and anais swaddle now and he's back asleep in 2 minutes. I'll keep these three to use for burp cloths and tummy time mats, but would have rather spent my money on a dual use swaddle and one that actually works for swaddling throughout the night.

I have a love and hate relationship with Aden Anais... When I originally got the muslin blankets, I wasnt quite sure what to use them for at first... living in the midwest with frigid temps, I didnt think I could use these lighteweight blankets but after a few months, I ended up using them for everything, burp cloth, blankies, etc. My baby loved them so much that I bought her the loveys and the dream blankets... so then I decided to upgrade to these.. boy was I disappointed. Yes, they are soft but they are so much thinner and fragile than the originals which makes them useless. The fabric is also so delicate that they are easy to snag. For my intended purpose these blankets just didnt cut it. I am sticking to my beloved original muslns.
