So I hopped back on Amazon to look for something better. Eventually, I sucked up the price and picked these up. Oh man, what a difference. I've only had these for a couple months, but the improvement is obvious from the moment you get them. Much better material. Great comfort and fit. Then I started playing in them, and realized I should have gotten these years ago.
Overall, if you only play soccer occasionally, you can get by with cheaper socks no problem. However, if you find yourself playing a significant amount of time, you should definitely get these. I find these are actually better bang for the buck compared to my old socks.
For comparison, they are a more snug fit than some of Adidas' less expensive options like the Copa Zone Cushion, but aren't as snug as the Formotion Elite which are definitely on the more snug side.
These socks are much nicer than either the thinner types or the thick, standard type, as they allow your foot and leg to breathe in most areas, but give a really solid cushion where it counts.
My one complaint is that the socks are a bit tight when putting them on... If you're like me you have 'soccer calves' that require a little extra pull to get over—these socks are just tight enough that it requires quite a bit of force to pull them up over my ankle, then over my calves, without my fingers getting rubbed to heck. Once on, they fit comfortably enough, but I wish there were a slight bit more elastic in them so getting them on isn't as much an ordeal.
I bought two pairs of these for my son to use for football.
Adidas supports our team so I feel obliged to get Adidas gear whenever I can. I normally don't think their quality is quite on par with some others but I don't think that is the case with these socks. They are expensive but they are also really nice.
However, the white pair only lasted two games. When my son got home from the second he pulled them off an draped them over the back of a chair. His dog promptly pulled one of them off and shredded it before he could stop her. Obviously, I was not happy with him or the dog. So, as long as your Rottie is well behaved these are great ;)
Edit, used them for indoor volleyball and the fact that they were up to my knee actually meant my knee pads kept them in place which was actually kind of nice. Still wish they weren't so long but like them more than my initial walk around the house wearing them.
We sent these with my son to soccer camp. I sent extra pairs because he usually has to change during the day with as sweaty as their feet get. He didn't need any extra pairs. He said these where dry and comfortable all day. He also didn't have prune feet after 4 days of 12 hour soccer.
There where not many of these in stock and I almost don't want to leave a review because I want to get more.
