I went with the Small and the fit was great, the material is very light and breathable. I can wear these all day long with no problems and they are very comfortable. I've been wearing them a lot for close to a month now and no signs of wearing or tearing yet.
First time purchasing any pants of this kind and they definitely met my expectations. Looking foreward to purchasing more colors in the future.
I’ve been looking for some slim-fitting “technical” athletic pants …something a little more trendy and stylish than your basic sweats. I found these Adidas soccer pants while cruising through Amazon. The Tiro 17 has rave reviews and the price from Amazon vendor Western Sporting Goods was all I needed to seal the deal.
Sizing: The Tiro 17 pants come in small, medium, large and extra large with an elastic waistband/drawstring and a single inseam length for each size range. So what are the numbers? You have to search a bit but the info is on the seller’s sites. I’m 5’8” and 153lbs. and wear 32x30 or 32x32 jeans. I first went with the mediums; 32 is the smallest waist size for medium and the inseam was advertised as 32”. I got the pants 2-day fast via Prime. The medium Tiros were too large …too baggy in the waist and seat for my taste and the legs were too long as well …seriously stacking at the ankles and wrinkling around the thighs. I wanted the smooth sleek look of the Tiro’s the model is wearing on the site …so I swapped for the smalls. Adidas lists 30” as the maximum size for smalls but they fit fine; there’s plenty of room in the waist. If you’re a 33” you might get away with the smalls but you’d be right there at the max for them; 34” go medium. I have a slim build and the small fits way better in the seat and thighs. The inseam on the small is 30” and is dead on for me. No stacking, the leg rides right on top of my Nike Free RN Flyknits and shows just a bit of ankle when I cross my leg; so perfect. If you unzip the legs a couple inches they fit even better over your kicks especially with high tops like my Air Footscape Magistas. With the size dialed in I immediately scored a second pair.
Fit/Feel: The legs of the Tiro 17 fit like gloves from just above your calf muscles down to your ankles …nothing tight (unless you have some really big calf muscles) just a very comfortably snug feel. The Tiros can do a nice job showing off your lower leg muscles too. I run and my calves are lookin’ mighty fine in these pants. With the foot-long side zipper you can loosen the leg fit making it easier to slip the pants on and off. The seat and thighs fit my physique and personal taste and I get the look I’m after. Out of the bag the material the Tiro 17’s are made from feels a bit coarse and scratchy but gets way better after the first washing; they become much smoother and softer with zero shrinkage. From a utility standpoint the pants have two large, zippered side pockets. The pockets are big; you can completely stick your hands into the them. There are no back pockets just a full-width vent across the back just below the waistband. For tweaking the fit and adjusting how the Tiro sits on your bod, you can fold the waistband over once. This is handy because the drawstring is now on the outside of the waistband making it easier to retie when needed. Flipping the waistband also lowers the waistline so you can raise the pants a bit and adjust how they fit your crotch. I usually wear mine with the band flipped. I like the subdued look so I ordered a pair of Black/Dark Grey and a Blue/Blue pair. The Black/Grey pair has all the trim and logo in a subdued charcoal grey color which looks really cool. The Blue/Blue pair has the trim in the same color blue as the pants material and the Adidas logo in white. The blue is a nice medium blue, not Navy and not neon blue. Both these colorways look sweet.
I totally dig wearing these Adidas Tiro 17 soccer pants and highly recommend them. The Tiro’s are light, airy, wonderfully comfortable and even practical to a degree and have a sleek awesome look. You might have to experiment with the sizing a bit depending on the fit and look you’re after. The Tiros are great for the gym, running errands or just hanging out …not to mention soccer. They could even work as sleep pants or lounge wear. At the other end of the spectrum, while not the best choice for serious hiking, they should work great for light day hikes. Overall these are a versatile trendy pair of “technical” athletic pants to wear for a whole bunch of reasons and occasions; they’re not just for soccer.
