Nice device for watching all that you would want to watch on TV: movies, news, TV episodes, sports, etc. Lots of free stuff to watch and a small charge for special things to watch. It has Alexa on the remote to help find what you want to watch. Very nice device. Doesn't take much room. It's quick and easy to install and set up. The picture on the screen is very colorful and clear.

So far my mother loves this streaming choice as her go to tv show watching maratons. Her old tv streaming box broke previously, so i decided to try this one out and so far its absoutely perfectly. Literally exactly what my old mother needs, cause shes not really good with using a computer to watch shows, so instead she can just click with her tv and understand enough of the basics to navigate since this streaming item firestick is super straight forward but extremely basic simple set-up when its your first time.

But anyways, it gets the job done more than enough. My mother is extremely happy and distracted with her new fun gift so i am more than grateful for the results this purchase brought me. ITS LIIIIITTTTTTT !!!

As for the remote: Lots of useful shortcut buttons if you're well adjusted to knowing how to use casual streaming items and such. Its also voice activated which is useful for those that know those functions as well, im personally not familar with it, and my mother doesn't seem to need it but incase if she ever does its there! the buttons are very polished, well designed and still pretty good for its pricing range.

Hope my review can help anyone else's future purchases or any wonders they may have. Thanks!

Great way to update a Smart TV with newer apps, and a better picture when streaming. I have an older Samsung flat screen that is a Smart TV. Unfortunately, the older version Samsung, doesn't offer the newer apps that are available. The TV still works fine, so I decided to try using a FireStick. Now I use the FireStick for all the apps, even though the Smart TV has the Netflix and Amazon Prime apps installed. I think the FireStick provides a better picture, and the apps load much faster on the FireStick, compared to the apps loaded directly onto the Smart TV.

Had the previous version which started having slow down issues and weak connection. Set up was extremely quick and easy. No issues as of yet. Only downside is the remote doesn't allow programmable short cut buttons, you're stuck with the 4 choices it comes with but it's a small thing.

We had previously purchased a Fire Stick Lite ver. 1 and had significant issues. Streamed shows or movies took forever to load, they would buffer, stop and start, or they just wouldn't start at all. Apps would open and then close again. It just wasn't a good experience. Checking the WiFi revealed a strong and fast signal and YouTube worked well on the TV. But streaming services weren't great. After checking everything on my side I thought the issue might be the small amount of storage granted by the Fire Light. Since I knew we were almost out of space, and still adding apps every time a movie is offered on a service you don't have, I thought that could be the cause of the buffering.
When I noticed the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max was on sale I pounced. It was receiving good reviews that said the performance was better. (Perhaps I should have watched some reviews on the Lite, but oh well.) Anyway, when I received it, I compared the amount of storage it provided to our old one and noticed it didn't provide more. I noticed that this version provides a more powerful processor, but I didn't see how it would help. I thought that it wasn't going to work, but I was surprised. The thumbnails and the UI are much snappier. We are having much fewer problems than we used to have. We still have the occasional app starting and then closing again as well as movies or shows not starting, but it happens far less frequently. The main issue we were having with Paramount + is corrected and we are not having issues with it anymore. So, I guess you can say that we are pleased.
The new volume and power buttons on the remote are nice additions, but the volume acts like it is repeatedly sending signals to communicate. I say that because the TV volume rises or lowers in a herky jerky manner. Considering I use HDMI there is no excuse for having to use multiple remotes for something as simple as volume or power. But I went cheap on the last one, so that's what I get.

Got this for my daughter because she wants to get into gaming. She uses it with an old XBox One controller for GamePass and it works great. It was super easy to set up and get going. We have good internet speeds, and she's not far from the modem. Your mileage may vary depending on your setup. The Luna games work pretty nicely as well. So bottom line, this could be the future of gaming. It's essentially a console on a stick, and I imagine things will only get better from here.

BUYER BEWARE!

I was under the impression that my daughter could use her account to play Gamepass games using my subscription because she's part of my Microsoft Family account.

She CAN enjoy all the GamePass benefits that come with my subscription when using the XBox. She CAN play the Xbox remotely with her phone while using her own account, AND she can enjoy all the benefits of my subscription while doing so.

What she CANNOT do is play Microsoft's cloud gaming services with her own account on the FireStick which is the entire reason we got it for her. At the time of this review (July 2024) the only way to use a Firestick for Microsoft's GamePass is if you have a GamePass Ultimate subscription, which just got a price hike. So if you want this as a console on a stick, it's a minimum of $20 a month... Unless you can score a good deal on some subscription cards. Sometimes you can find good deals on Amazon's Woot side hustle.

If Microsoft rolls out a cloud only tier of GamePass for a reasonable price, this would be a great deal... But for now, unless you're the only one using it for gaming, it's not that great of a deal.

Oh, all the other stuff works too. As far as Netflix, Disney, Paramount, etc. it's great. Just as good as a Roku stick, maybe even a little better.
