It will work but since Charter service now starts with 30MBPS, they will require you to use a DOCSIS V3 modem which can handle those speeds. Unfortunately, DOCSIS V2 modem such as this one cannot maximize those speeds as this can only handle up to 30MBPS or so. your cable provider should have a list of modems that's compatible - that's what I did because I have Time Warner cable

Time Warner, which I have, lists the compatible modems on their website. Perhaps Charter Cable does the same?

no, this modem has been proven to work with charter. for being a docsis 2.0 and us living in a docsis 3.0 world... this is possibly still one of the BEST docsis 2.0 modems available. it's cheaper at bestbuy then walmart or frys as well

If you have time warner cable the modem works great. As for the other cable companies you would have to contact them to see what modem is compatible to there system

What is Charter Cable? If it is like Time Warner cable then it will work fine. I hooked this unit up and it worked out of the box as designed. I had to call Time Warner to finish the install. You will most likely have to call your supplier also.
