The key card will have the same type of code that you'll get if you select the download code. It's mainly about how quickly you need the software, and if you want to be eco-friendly and not receive a physical package. The download code will get to you in a matter of minutes and generate no trash; the key card will be mailed, take a few days to get there, and you'll have trash from the mail and card/packaging. I don't know why they charge more for the one that doesn't require postage.
The key card is an just the license code on a card. It is really packaged for bricks and mortar stores instead of putting a disk in the package. When you buy the key card package you go to Norton to download the software. When you buy the "download code" you might actually download the software via Amazon. As a practical matter, if you are buying on-line (as you are if you are buying from Amazon) then either way you are getting a code to install downloaded software.
The yellow box simply has the same exact code and a peice of paper telling you to go onlone, register for an account, and download the data files using the code.
I thought it was the same thing. I had to contact support because I had problems and they were very helpful, patient and installed my download for me by taking control of my computer.
I was told by Symantec last year that the key code allowed me to download and load onto 5 computers at a time, as many times during the life of the subscription as I needed. This is useful if you reload your computers twice or more per year for optimal performance or computer issues... With the download option, your loads are limited.
only difference is time and packaging. downloads are instant and come without baggage or packaging. Yet you still have the same "code" as if you bought the card with the "code" - no big diff. also you may download direct from mfr. site or direct from a third party vendor.
