Are amazon batteries only required for the fire tv stick? i tried the durcell aaa batteries and they are not working

That said, to answer your question, no, I don't believe there is any possible way that amazon fires tick could somehow block batteries other than amazon's from working. Even if the could I can't imagine that they would. The amount of annoyance they would cause and the amount of backlash they would receive from that kind of restriction would have to make it utterly unworthwhile. Batteries are batteries regardless of who sells them. Amazon brand batteries have proved to be just as reliable as name brands.

I have an amazon fire stick and currently using rayovac batteries and haven't had any problems or issues with it.

Only the label is different - battery is a battery so long as they’re the same “type” - alkaline, for example.
