Is there an "out" function for ear phones? Seems to be hard to find nowadays.

No sure what you mean by "out function". There is an earphone jack (3.5 mm). When you plug in your headphones the radios "internal" speaker is disabled.

Specifications say " earphone jack (3.5mm minijack)" hope this helps as I don't use this feature.

Yes. there is an earphone jack in the side panel below the volume and tuning dials.

Yes, but it only outputs sound to one ear, perhaps because the radio has only one speaker

Yes, a headphone / line-out jack for 3.5mm plugs (most common headphones these days) is provided on the right side of the unit, below the tuning / volume dials.

I asked one of the people to whom I gave one of the radios we bought. She said that there is an opening on the side with an 'ear' next to it and she assumes it's a headphone jack ut she hasn't used it yet.
