I am hearing impaired and I'm very concern about NOT having subtitles option on this player. Is it true that this player doesn't have that option?

It DOES have subtitle option, even a button right on the remote for that. Very easy to use! Love mine!

Yes, it has subtitle button on remote, but remember that captions have to be included on whatever medium you are watching. If you use the player's feature that allows you to watch video from the internet then you probably will not have captions available, but that is not the player's fault. By the way, we love ours.

See this: http://www.amazon.com/review/R9UCQ5E7IEQD2/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R9UCQ5E7IEQD2
As this review mentions it DOES NOT have subtitles for MKV/AVI or other video files. If all you ever need to play are regular BD/DVD disks you will most likely be fine.

It does have subtitle capability. I just tested it as I was watching a show on Netflix. Seems to work well!

There is a cc button right on the remote, very easy to use. The remote set up is much better than the player we had before, esp for the caption option.
