It runs off the rechargeable battery that can be charged from a cigarette lighter adapter to mini usb. I plugged it into a recharger (not the computer) and it would not record. I am not sure how long the battery runs. I would expect that with enough storage space, you can record for 2 or 3 hours. You can charge it with an adapter (it uses standard mini-usb, but not micro-usb like cell phones). The only problem is that you can't charge it while recording as far as I know.

I see one review online at another site that claims it is possible to use the charging port to power the camera while recording. yeah as long as you have a USB you should be fine. It won't record, but it will charge. I easily have 3hrs of record play with it fully charged.

The battery lasts for some hours, the power spot is a mini USB so if you had one I don't see why not but I can't say for sure. However, now that I think about it if your cigarette lighter has a USB attachment that should work

As long as you have the USB adapter you should be able to charge it using the car cigarette lighter.(Though, it takes a while to charge, especially if the battery is low).

You could charge it via a cigarette lighter. The camera has a door on the back that flips open to reveal a mini-USB port (like the kind found on Blackberry phones).
