It turns out that the battery charger can be powered from almost any voltage. From 100 to 240 volts. Just the cord was wrong for me. I had the 220 volt European plug. The simplest solution would have been to just cut the plug off and put a new one on. The cleaner solution was to buy the correct cord. I bought one from Fuji but the cord for a Toshiba laptop would also work. I would hope that most of the new cameras being sold would have the correct cord.
