Yes it does. For instance, I use the Netflix application and play a movie on my Kindle HD. I attach the HDMI cable to the Kindle and to my HDMI input on my flat screen TV. I change my TV input to HDMI and view the Netflix movie on the flat screen in high def. It works just fine.

Yes, for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" tablet. Make sure your TV is set to one of the HDMI channels.

Just confirming what everyone else already said. Works great. I've been using mine consistently for the past three weeks without problems.

The one that I purchased from Amazon for $7.99 did not work. When I tried to return it, I was told that I had to pay shipping even though the product was defective. Wasn't worth the postage to return it. Instead, I both a HDMI cable from an electronic store for $29.99 and it worked perfectly.
