Does this camera work well in low light?

It does if you are shooting in manual mode where you have control over the ISO, shutter, and aperture. When shooting in auto though, it boost the ISO up and the image is grainy. For most low light situations I use an external flash (but bounce the light upward) so the subject is well lit, but not washed out.

It really needs an external flash if you want good quality pictures. I use the camera flash but in large rooms or dim lighting, I know the pictures will be somewhat grainy. For me that is just fine, for others, get the external flash.

Good Question. I was at a party on Saturday and the lighting was bad. I snapped pics on auto anyway and they turned out pretty good. With adjustments manually I could have had better results but did all auto anyway. Compared with my old point-and-shoot, it is way much better. I haven't compared it with other entry-level DSLRs yet.

It does work in low lighting but it depends on the distance and if its on the manual modes. anything other then the manual...you will get grainy photos.

Works great in low light, but depends on the lens you use and what your shooting.

It works great. I took pictures at dusk of deer in yard and it was overcast outside. The pictures are beautiful. I have taken pictures in many different lighting situations and they all look great.

It works very well. If you buy the camera you should absolutely buy David Busch's book on how to use the camera. The camera is great. You should also consider the 55-200 zoom.

Not in low ambient light when on either auto or aperture mode; I have not found a mode in which it works well in low light, but haven't read the manual either.
