To access ANY wireless router wirelessly, the computer in question will need some manner of wireless adapter. However, most all laptops, tablets and phones come with them built in these days - it's usually only desktop PCs that usually would require a separate adapter to be purchased. It doesn't matter really which adapter you would buy in that case, so long as it conforms to the 802.11 b,g, or n standard. N is best.
However, also be aware that this router has standard ethernet jacks on the back, so if it is reasonably close to your desktop PC, you won't need a wireless adapter - just connect it with a normal ethernet cable. see less

Yes, you would also need the modem. The internet provider I am currently using provided the modem, but I needed to purchase the router - so it is not "all in one".

Everything you need comes in the box. It comes with a power adapter. Good product. It took less than 15 minutes to configure.

No adapter needed..I connected it directly to my cable modem. Easy to set up and it has works perfectly.
The only draw-back is the range is roughly 50 feet.

if you ask about the adapter in your computer and your computer doesnt has a wireless network adapter, then the answer is yes, otherwise you can connect the pc with a cable

If your computer doesn't have a wireless adapter already, you'll need to purchase one to use the wireless feature.
If your computer is near the router, you can simply use a cable to the router from the computer.
