Yes. Ps3 has firmware that supports most ps1 games (with a couple rare exceptions) yes chrono cross is supported by the ps3 so yes you can play it on the ps3.

Yes, and if you have problems add some black tape on the TOP of the disc to stop it from skipping. Often times PS1 games don't have the same weight as PS2 games and are harder for the lens to read. I play Chrono Cross on my PS2 only.
