I have the Tenergy T9688. It failed to give these large D cells a full charge. I bought a Maha Powerex MH-C808M, which does the job nicely.

Did you ever find an answer to this? Curious on how the self discharge is on these cells. The higher capacity may still self discharge quickly. I know AA PowerEx cells discharge.

They're rechargeable, so I think they lose charge really quickly. I use mine in a stereo, and it uses a lot of power. They last about 8 hours.
