It's a sealed unit unfortunately. If it failed within a few months, contact B&Decker and see what they will do. They might be willing to recycle the battery inside it.

It has three lights on front of unit that lets you test your charger and you know when it needs charging again. So far the best charger I have ever owned!!!

I have two of them... The older version has the power port but the newer version does not. I use them on my boat and the older one I use for a flood light while the newer one backs up my two batteries for any emergency.

Older versions of this product had a cigarette lighter socket. Newer versions of the VEC010BD do not. I suggest looking at another jump starter model. Some have USB ports, so no cigarette lighter charger would be needed, just the cable that came with your phone.

There's a a few screws on the back of the unit and two each on the cable holders. Easily swappable RT1290 (12V, 9A) battery. Mine just died, so will be ordering new battery for about $25, rather than buy new unit.
