It does support Wherigo, just have to load the cartridge for each one from your computer. If I don't have any geocaches loaded and hit "Search for Geocaches," it says show "Chirp Details." If I click on that it says "No Chirp Found." If I was in the right spot for a Chirp, I assume it would work. Go to the "Setup" icon and press it. Then click the choice to "Reset". Pick "Reset Trip Data, etc. and "Clear Current Track Memory." (Choose "Yes") If you just want to start a new track, just clear the memory for that and leave the distance traveled, etc. alone. I usually clear both categories. Yes. You can mark waypoints and it leaves a track on the map, so you can backtrack, if you get lost. Ever try to find your way out of the Everglades?

You should get a good signal off shore, so it will work well as far as telling you where you are (Lat, long). I use mine to navigate in mangrove swamps (Kayaking) and the maps are not too reliable. I am often paddling on dry land! You can use the "Mark Waypoint" feature to get the exact location of any point on the property. A less sophisticated GPS would probably work also.
