Yes it takes cartridges... :) Not what your looking for? It takes PGI 220 and CLI 221. Still not what you wanted then try this...it will not work without all cartridge spaces full and at least a small amount of ink in them. If any one cartridge is empty printer will not print.

Crappy. Wifi set up is really hard (you can rely on USB instead) ... Black & White prints are only allowed when all the color cartridges have ink (that's a serious flaw). It uses 5 inkjet cartridges ... maybe that's normal, but that is a lot of ink to refill ...
Color prints aren't that great, easily smudge ... and quality is literally spotty, at best.
Buy a cheap B&W laser printer & use a service for high quality color prints (like Snapfish or Shutterfly). see less

I dont know the answer to this but I would not recommend this printer. We don't use it that often but it is always out of in in one color and it will not print in black if it is out of a color.

Yes - that's when we chucked the thing out the window and bought a different brand ... once you get the error message, the thing is essentially "totaled" - it costs more to fix than to just buy a new one...
