My computer told me this mic is incompatible with Cortana. I can talk to Cortana and she answers with a typed message but I get no sound. That includes all sounds including YouTube videos when the mic is plugged in. So if you want Cortana get a mic made for Cortana. I have a Dell desktop with windows 10 on it.

yes. it works just fine for this.
however, if your main usage is for dictation/voice recognition you might need to be in a fairly quiet room.
this mic is quite sensitive and will pick up background noises even at lower gain levels.

I think it would, it registers as an external USB mic, and any program working with your internal mic should have a setting to read external mics as well.
