Yes and it does a good job. I've also done a great (no modesty here), Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich.
As mentioned though, there's more of a clean up, and with hamburgers especially the grease will pool, unlike a slanted grill like the Forman.

I can honestly say I'm not certain the plates are BPA free, but based on the melt point of Bisphenol A and it's use in food and beverage containers has become a flashpoint issue, I would say it is free of this poly carbonate and I would order it simply because it works very well and does it for a very reasonable cost. … see more I can honestly say I'm not certain the plates are BPA free, but based on the melt point of Bisphenol A and it's use in food and beverage containers has become a flashpoint issue, I would say it is free of this poly carbonate and I would order it simply because it works very well and does it for a very reasonable cost. However I strongly reccomend one with removable plates and ribbed on both sides for quick Panni's like most people like them. Also for ease of cleaning. see less
