I bought this for my wife to replace an HP Pavilion that lost the main board. it's not fancy by today's standards but it works well. main issues are all cosmetic. if you need more than it is after you've go it in hand and are capable the upgrades aren't tough. I swapped in a larger (and newer) hard drive, sourced a 2GB memory kit off ebay (new, $25 and free shipping) and upgraded the OS up to the latest it'd take (mountain lion if I remember right). Me and the wife are both happy with the end result and she finally gets to experience a Mac for herself. if you're worried about warranty or newness of product I'd suggest hitting the local walmart for a $200 netbook. these are after all used but you're NOT going to touch any new Apple laptop for this price. I hope this helps you. :) see less you get what you pay for. Answer:
This particular MacBook can only go up to two 2gb ram equals to 4gb. You have to takeout the battery and the metal plate. You can go to Apple's website and look up instructions on how to do it. Easy but the max ram is 4 gb total. You will need more recent models for more ram.
