Try following the included directions. If that method fails, try this: I couldn't get my computer to read the camera's USB cord as a storage drive, so I had to bypass that set-up method. I took the microSD card out of the camera and (w/ adapter) put it directly into my computer's SD slot. From there, I was able to see the video camera's (empty) storage card. First, you need to copy the config.exe file from the included CD to the camera's memory card (just copy & paste). Now, open the camera's memory card & double-click to run the config.exe file. You should see the screen that lets you choose recording options & time/date. If you're able to enter the time/date here then do so. For some reason, in order to get the time/date set, I then had to take another step (as instructed in another review) I opened Windows Notepad and typed (& saved) a file that set the Time/Date (using the format described in the instructions that came with the camera) then I cut/pasted the Notepad Time/Date file into the memory card for the camera. I returned the microSD card into the camera, then began the test videos. It worked.
I saw some other "answers" to this Q. Pls see my review for all kinds of troubleshooting. I figured out fixes for several issues from my experience as well as from other reviewers & compiled all into 1 review. I do not think this is a "Knock-off" because my box & manual both say "Spygreargadgets". The directions are likely for an older version of operating system, but you can get this thing fully functioning if you check out my review. Pls click "yes" if my review helps you, as I took my time to be thorough & answer all potential problems with this camera. It works fine if you check out my review/follow advice. Any more Q's, pls ask. see less
