No, it is corded and as far as I know it doesn't charge or anything so cannot be used without the cord.

The deepest pot that I have is 8qt.s, and I measured the smartstick and it will work in that with a little bit to spare. I do not really want to give bad advice for your 12 qt.pot, all I can say is that it (the smartstick) has a lot of power and has worked well for me. Good Luck

It is strong enough no doubt, but "normal" ice cubes are too big to handle without some hassle. I have a tray of small cubes that I use and that works great.

No, there is just a button to disassemble the mixer part from the motor part. That button cannot be disabled, just don't push it.
