No, the software is what creates the actual electronic file (Mp3). The file that is created is what you will import into ITunes.

Not with this unit, so far as I'm aware. You'd need a unit that can record as well as play back. I'd suggest a better long term solution is to replace the unit in your car with either a CD player or something that can handle input from an MP3 player.
