The hub will NOT work with out power. I tried it out with one USB drive and it will not read the drive until AC is added to the unit.

I have a 4 port hub and the documentation states, "MIDI devices will not work with the hub." That said, it's often a question of compatability. eg: attempting to connect a 1. or 2. with a 3.hub.
