In IA mode, the ZS-15 takes 12MB pics (4:3 aspect), 10.5M (3:2), 9M (16:9). etc.
So, if you are referring to 16:9 aspect (not 19 x 9, perhaps a typo?), the answer is 9M in Intelligent Auto Mode.

You can do it either way, either remove the battery to recharge or plug the usb connector in while it is in the camera.

Each picture is a little more than 3 meg, so roughly 300 pictures per gig, or 4800 on your card. But the real question is whether you'll be taking video - because that will use the cards up much faster than individual pictures.

No - I would highly recommend this camera for a point and shoot. It will not match the performance of DSLR but it is the best camera in its class I have used!
