I dont see why not, unless you mean to expose it direclty to oil. In that case, I wouldnt, but it might be a better choice than other point-and-shoot options.

Yes but the strap works with carabiner, not a wrist strap. A purchased a separate floating strap, worked great and love camera. Was awesome in Hawaii.

There should not be a problem unless there is something wrong with the camera. Make sure you change the mode to video ( red icon with just the video camera). It take about a second to start and then you should be fine. see less

From the research I did before purchasing my WG-2, the WG-2 shoots in full 1080p video @ 30 FPS, has a larger LCD, has a higher ISO rating (6400 maximum) and does better shooting in low light. It also has a high maximum shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second, helping to catch crystal clear action shots.
