This one includes a game called PetPad where you can take care of a dog washing him, feeding him, playing with him and also has games inside PetPad where you can have the pet pump over a lake and pop some balloons and one where you practice writing your letters. Other apps included are the camera, front and back, for both still pictures and videos, an area called My Stuff where anything you save is stored (videos, pictures, artwork, cartoons you make, whatever), there is an app called My Books where you can read any e-books you download (some can read to you or just read it yourself), a music area where you can listen to a few built in songs or download more from the LeapPad store (not sure if it'll do MP3s yet), there is an area for sneek peaks which just advertises other LeapPad games, there is a calculator, calendar, clock, notepad, artstudio, and an app called creativity which allows you to create your own cartoons using many built-in cartoon graphics but also use your own photos to put youself into the action. And of course, there is and app to load whatever game is inserted into the cartridge. Just slip in the cartridge at any time and the cartridge reader will show the icon for that game so the child can open and play it just as easily as any other game. No confusion there. The package also includes the $20 gift card good for anything at the LeapPad store and a few app which you can choose by going to the LeapPad store and selecting from an small list. My freebie was a space taxi game that seems pretty fun. The selections seem to have changed since I bought my other LeapPad2 but just know there are a few options there. see less

But the battery pack sold for the leappad2 only. Best chage they made from the 1 to the 2. I also recommend downloading games/movies/books to it b4 Xmas (if it is for ur child) so that it won't be so boring when ur child receives it. Which will require u to open the gift carefully, install the cd driver on ur computer and make some online purchases from the leappad online store only available from this cd. Otherwise it will come with only 4 apps that are relatively boring on their own. (The camera function is considered 1, maybe 2, of those "included" apps) see less

My kindergartener can also play it quite well and even my 2 year old can use the draw/paint app, but can't play the games. Check on what kind of games you can buy before you purchase the leappad, because I have found it hard to find games for older kids, most of the games go up to only 8 year olds. I would def. buy this for a kindergartener if you want them to have it for a long time. I'm glad I bought it, it is a great toy and very sturdy and has lots of options, such as the video/photo app and paint and games and they are all very dependable. I recommend buying the charger tho, we spent countless amounts on batteries and the charger is well worth the money. Also, by the age of 8/9 my kids want a kindle fire or something a little more advanced, (all their friends have kindles by then, too). But this is a great buy for the younger ages. Hope this helps. see less

Answer:
No. These don't connect to the Internet at all. You plug them into the computer to update them and download games but that's about it.
