The Ninja can easily do cookie dough and cake batters. But it is a high speed unit. Anything that needs blending on low would not do well with this. I still have my mixer and use it for low speeds. I know this is late, but they have some on ebay for good price, single serve cups and lids for all the Ninja Blenders.

You cannot put HOT liquids in it, but you can put warm liquid into it.

I do not use a dishwasher to clean mine. I have a brush used specifically for glasses to clean mine which removes all particles in any corner.

Sorry it took me so long to answer. Yes there is a small opening at the top-lid where you can pour in extra ingredients.

I don't really know. I haven't used the cups yet. I make a blender full of vegie/fruit smoothies each day to share with my husband. Love this Ninja blender.
