The Ninja can easily do cookie dough and cake batters. But it is a high speed unit. Anything that needs blending on low would not do well with this. I still have my mixer and use it for low speeds. Yes, it does. The food processing bowl is really large at eight cups, so I make it in the individual sized cups. I put pine nuts in my pesto and the blender does a superb job. From my experience, more effort is needed if using the XL bowl. You'll need a spatula handy to push the pesto off of the sides of the bowl if yo…

I don't really know. I haven't used the cups yet. I make a blender full of vegie/fruit smoothies each day to share with my husband. Love this Ninja blender.
