Amanda. I assume you are talking about over the air reception vs. cable. I switched to cable a couple of years ago so I have not attempted over the air with the Visio but I am sure you would need an antenna if you did.

yes, it's a wide triangle shape or a boomerang shape stand it's not under the TV but on the back of the TV so the TV sets at a angle

We are using it for our rv. depending on what your using for input, DVD sat cable etc, it seems to project the sharpest pic available. Remember output is only as good as the input signal. Overall so far a 5 star product
