You can probably get an adapter for a pretty low price. When you're done, you connect the mic to the mic port on the left hand side of the laptop. This is the one further away from you. Audacity is a good program to record stuff; You just simply select your audio source, check that you're getting proper sound, and then press the record button. When you're done recording, you have to export the recording (under Files). Try to select a higher quality audio setting, as the default only gives you 64 Kbps. Aim for at least 192 Kbps. If there is an option, choose Constant Bit Rate (CBR), instead of Variable Bit Rate (VBR) unless you're really short on storage space.
