Answer:
I use this monitor with my MacBook Pro. I had to buy a Thunderbolt/mini-display to HDMI adapter (or Thunderbolt to DVI, or Thunderbolt to VGA) but the expense was minimal and well worth it.

I really like this monitor after nearly a year for everyday work (Office 365, et al.), regular games, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra 13 (BD video), and lots of other things. Answer:
I'm real happy with mine. I haven't had anything to compare it to, though, except my old pair of flat panels that it replaced, and they were OLD. I use it for photo adjustments with Lightroom, so I'm pretty critical. To me it's a beautiful thing.

Answer:
This monitor has VGA, DVI-D and HDMI connectivity. What you're describing sounds like VGA, so it should work. (BTW, try Googling "VGA connector" and "DVI-D connector" to look at images to compare with yours.)

Also in combination with the LED back lighting,, it allows for deeper blacks and whiter whites. All in all, having all three past versions of HP monitors which were/are all great, this one really outshines the rest. The overall picture quality is really amazing. The Vivid Color, is exactly that, VIVID! It is, as I prefer, a glossy screen which adds to the sharpness and quality of the picture. I have a bright room and when the monitor is active, I hardly notice the small reflections but rather do notice the deeper colors which tends to be slightly dull on a matte screen. So I see myself on a black screen-no deal breaker for me. It really has depth to it. The touch control OSD is also a plus. I game heavily on FPS games and cannot have any lag whatsoever. This monitor has none that I can see at any given time. All and all, you wiould be very happy with this monitor. For a IPS panel monitor with the other offerings, the price can not be beat for quality. IPS panel monitors are more expensive but offer more, picture wise. Getting back to the speakers, don't even worry about it not having them. Sound quality on monitors are not really good. Sound cards are relatively cheap, as are headphones, unless you want really superb sound, then more $$$ are called for. Also, HP make great monitors providing you like glossy screen as I do. All my older HP monitors are still in use by me, they are the HP w2007, w2408h, 2511x, and of course, the 27I. Never had a problem. see less No, this particular monitor has no speakers, however, it does have an IPS panel which is better than the other types before, What it does differently, is give you a much more higher accuracy (color gamut) of color reproduction. Answer:
unfortunately this monitor does not have speakers, but decent fidelity is better through add-on speakers or headphones, both of which are are inexpensive.
personally, i prefer headphones for the sound quality; computers can adjust the sound better than most stereos.
