If the goal is to avoid wrinkling, and you're checking your luggage anyway, the only thing I've been successful with is a shirt box with tissue and/or light plastic laundry bags to lightly hold the folded, but not compressed, items in place. If the goal is minimal wrinkles, but you can tolerate some, then I use the eagle all the time. Wouldn't travel without it. Never used specter - my current eagle still looks new, is very light weight, so no need to try a different brand. I've used it for over 30 years, and some years I'm a very frequent traveler.

I have actually got the smaller size (for women) and it would definitely fit in a backpack. I gave the medium to my boyfriend and he loves it. I’m pretty sure the medium would fit in a normal backpack too.
